Laney provides The Orr Group's clients with a combination of M&A, finance and real estate expertise. Laney has successfully completed merger, acquisition and financing transactions for clients in industries ranging from financial institutions to manufacturers and distributors over the past 10 years. While with NationsBank Corporate Lending Group, his client base consisted of middle market companies throughout the Carolinas. Laney provided a wide variety of services to this market including financing for high growth companies and companies in mature industries.

Laney's experience also includes Highwoods Properties, one of the Southeast's largest commercial REITS. At Highwoods, Laney was involved in all facets of commercial real estate including development, construction, and leasing.
